Positive affirmations are mantras that are used to impress the subconscious with thoughts that both motivate and remind you. Affirmations are positive and specific statements that help you to overcome any self-sabotaging negative thoughts you have floating around your head. They help you visualise, and believe in, what you’re affirming to yourself, helping you to make positive changes to your life and career. While there’s limited research into the effectiveness of using affirmations in a general setting, there is evidence that the use of positive affirmations can successfully treat people with low self-esteem, depression, and other mental health conditions.
You should look at those latent talents you have locked away and possibly forgotten about, those gems of wisdom that provide the self-confidence required to accomplish your desires, visions, dreams and goals that you’re after. The key when saying or reading affirmations is to look deeply at what those feelings portrait. It will also help you relax, by listening to some light soothing music and, your affirmation statements are true. If they feel out of reach or you’re having a challenging time convincing yourself of their truth, adjust the affirmation to include the words that suite, or be willing to make them true for you, at this moment.
Of course, it’s important to realise that although some people have successfully used affirmations to overcome depression and negative thinking, the technique may not work for everyone. Some people may view affirmations as “wishful thinking,” or simply looking at the world with an unrealistic perspective. Quite a lot can depend on your own mindset. So, try looking at positive affirmations this way, “many of us find doing repetitive exercises to improve our body’s physical health and condition works well for us”. Affirmations are like exercises for our mind and outlook; these positive mental repetitions can reprogram your thinking patterns so that, over time, you begin to think, and act, in a new way.
Carefully constructed positive affirmations can “rewire” your brain to break your negative thought patterns that you have, like exercise, positive affirmations can increase the number of feel-good hormones in your brain. Positive thoughts create positive emotions, which can change your physiology and improve your mental, emotional, and physical health.
I have the power within me to create the life I desire.
This empowering statement can help you recognise that you alone have the power to create the life you want. Honour your power to choose by choosing thoughts and actions that positively contribute to your life.
