Networking 07.00hrs

Friday 18th December 2009

A lot of people think that business networking events are all about ‘selling-yourself’ or ‘working a room’. I’ve always said that networking isn’t about that at all, it’s about building relationship and projecting you and your company image attractive to people in a way they hadn’t realised before. It’s about developing you and your business, not ramming it down someone’s throat.

However, not everyone thinks they have good networking skills. They look at other people who appear to be at ease in the networking environment, and think, they a natural at this; I could never do that. You should always remember, the same as learning to drive a car, you move through the gears very slowly at first until you’ve gained a lot more experience and passed you test feeling more confident with yourself; all those people in the room had to start at some time themselves, indeed in that very same room there will be people just like you!

As far as I’m concerned, you can network; business networking skills can be learnt and are far easier to pick up than you might think.

In the New Year I will be running a few more Masterclasses on “Networking Skills” and providing some interactive internet mentoring over Skype, keep upto date by signing in for my News letters.
